- Since the main character, Rian, comes from the modern, weed-legal 21st century, it would make sense that he would have some paraphernalia on him. My question then became if he had a joint in his pocket, would anyone recognize it as marijuana? Would they know what he meant if he called it a joint?

- Answer: marihuana cigarettes, invented in Mexico in the 1850’s, would definitely be recognizable in the Wild West, although not by the name ‘joint.’
