Author Biography

Despite initially pursuing a career in the fields of mathematics, Cody Drake found greener pastures in the valleys of the writing world. Born in Germany, Cody was raised by his parents, both former Air Force, and spent much of his childhood moving east across the US; from New Mexico, to Illinois, to Massachusetts, before finally setting west again and settling in upstate New York.

After a quick change in both majors and colleges, he discovered his love for writing, focusing mainly on comedy, writing sketches and bits for various projects. Growing up in the media explosion that is the streaming era, Cody spent a lot of time consuming the various shows and movies that were now easily available, learning Hollywood writing techniques and broadening his sense of humor when he wasn’t nerding out over Magic the Gathering or his ever-growing list of video games. Drawing inspiration heavily from shows like I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson and  Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and with a unique “what if?” look at life, many of Cody’s works take seemingly mundane situations and add a small, humorous twist.

Cody is currently seeking representation for his film script, Ink and Iron, as well as for various short-form comedy sketch scripts. Additionally, his scripts can soon be found on The Black Box for review and critique.
